Opening Credits

If I was really doing an Ultimate X movie, I think the credits would be a lot different to these. This was just the easiest way to show off who was playing who. To do proper credits it'd have to be animated, or a hundred panel comic. Neither of which is appealing with my current workload.

And now, probably way too much information about our casting choices:

The casting has changed over the last couple of years. Heath Ledger was supposed to be playing me at one stage, so you can see how long we've been sitting on this idea. I think Irene suggested Jesse Spencer in the end. Eric Bana was another possible choice. I definitely wanted a real Aussie to play me.

Paul Hogan was our first choice for Dez. Though I would have liked to see Stephen Curry (from The Castle) in the role. We didn't think he'd be recognisable enough though.

I thought Kal Penn would make an awesome Rob after being dragged to the cinema and forced to sit through that awful, awful Epic Movie. Previously Cheech Marin was in the role. I'd even thought of Jackie Chan at one stage, just to play up the 'not knowing Rob's ethnicity' thing.

Missy Peregrym is just way too awesome. I'm a big fan and have a massive crush on her. She needs to be in more things. Before picking her, I think Keri Russell was going to be Irene. Missy could break Keri in half. That's why she gets the part.

Jason Schwartzman and Philip Seymour Hoffman were Ryne's ideas. I've never actually seen them in anything before (though I have 'I Heart Huckabees' on my computer ready to watch when I get a spare moment) but they both look right. My original picks were Jon Lovitz for Ryne and Richard Karn for Brooks. I like Ryne's casting better.

Steve Buscemi needs to be in more things too. I do not have a crush on him. Though my name is in the credits of a film he was in. It was called 'Nobody Wants Your Film'. I was credited as m_wszelaki because that's the start of my e-mail address that I used to signed up to a mailing list about the film. We'd always had Steve Buscemi in the role of Welshy.

And finally, Billy West is one of the best voice actors in the business. Originally Goonie's voice was gunna be done by Chris Rock, as a parody of celebs stealing voice acting parts from people who actually know what they're doing. But then I met Billy West at a convention and he brought up that topic, and I decided I felt strongly enough about it to cast a proper voice actor in the role.
