I started this web comic just while I was bored visiting my parents, basically the comic happened completely by accident. I was only going to do a couple drawings in paint of people me and my girlfriend would see walking down the street, and what they might be thinking. That’s basically what the whole premise is, strangers walking down the street, strangers in general, anyone’s thoughts, even your own. For one reason or another I just felt like putting the comics out there and I put them on drunk duck because I used to have a comic on drunk duck, and I like drunk duck, the site has it’s short comings I’ll admit but I really liked the community. We make comics and other comic creators come along and on some level we critique each others comics to varying degrees but I think the fact in the critiquing of other peoples comics we encourage each other to make more comics and keep putting our work out there is the best thing about drunkduck.
When I got back home from my parents I didn’t do anymore comics for awhile until I posted a few on a message board in a random drawing topic. That’s when a friend of mine who also goes to the message board PM’ed me, asking if I wanted to do comics for his site. I wanted to do it, it had been a long time since I did a web comic so figured it would be a great chance to get the ball rolling, I wasn’t sure how many I could do, I told him two a week. But I really got into it, he has written a few comics from time to time and given me ideas, I appreciate people giving me ideas for future comics, I think it helps to have a different perspective when you’re comics are about strangers, and I have to thank Kevin Lieber, Julius Bloop, he goes by a number of names, if it wasn’t for him this comic wouldn’t have been anything other than a couple crude paint drawings that went nowhere.
I’ve had a lot of fun making this comic and by no means is this the end of Unsung Heroes of Subtlety, when I got into this comic I decided that it would be a never ending comic, that I could always take a break from at anytime I wanted and always come back to it whenever inspiration hit me. I know every comic isn’t going to relate to everybody, which was the intent, I wanted a broad spectrum of things, and I think it does cover a broad spectrum. I never intended for Unsung Heroes to be popular, because of the format it’ll always only have a niche audience and I’m thankful for every person who has ever read Unsung Heroes. So thank you for reading Unsung Heroes, I am extremely grateful, you are truly the unsung heroes of Unsung Heroes of Subtlety.
