I used to read a lot of Disney comics. One thing I appreciate about many of them is that they stick to a simple panel layout. When I try to read superhero comics, I’m often distracted by the absurdly complicated panel layouts. I try to keep my layouts simple because (a) it keeps the comic readable and (b) I don’t have to mess with my Photoshop templates. That said, I like to find ways to have some variety within this pattern, which results in stuff like the last panel.
