Chapter M3: Mindy’s Island | Part 18

When I was in college, I submitted a LEGO animated movie to the college’s film festival. Despite being a small college, many of the short films submitted are quite impressive. This is why I was surprised and proud when the judges picked my film as the best picture of the festival.

Here’s a link to the short. Looking back, it’s really rough around the edges, but it manages to tell a coherent story.

I think one of the things that people liked at the time was the attention to detail in the film. The film features chase scenes, a sword fight, and a pirate battle, but the thing that people mentioned to me the most afterward was a scene where a boat displaces sand as it pushes up onto a beach. I have no idea why people gravitated to this scene, but it gives me something to talk about under an otherwise straightforward comic that happens to feature sand.
