Character Sketch: Charlie Chaplin

Today's character sketch is Charlie Chaplin, one of the great comedic actors of the silent film era. At the time I made this, I'd only seen one of Chaplin's movies (something I have since remedied), but it was one of his best: The Great Dictator.

This film is both a comedic delight and a biting satire of Nazi Germany. It was made in 1940, before the full extent of the Holocaust was known. I respect the heck out of Chaplin for taking on Hitler before it was in vogue to do so. The film was also Chaplin's first film with sound and spoken dialogue.
