Lately, I’ve taken to answering these spam calls with my limited Spanish and German vocabularies. This has elicited reactions ranging from being hung up on to confusion to expletive-laden tirades. The latter never ceases to amuse; a recent scammer’s response to my recitation of "99 Luftballons" was “This is America you dumb [expletive]” and “Go back to your own country [more expletives].”
