And thus I justify my not giving the villain any motivation by making it into a joke. Lazy perhaps, but honestly, I think this is better than bogging down the story with a bunch of exposition by a character who's just there to fulfill story obligations. Exposition is best used to develop more rounded characters – like Echo, who we'll be checking in on next time when we start Benny Chapter 5…
