The "SL-27" written on the building in panel 3 is a reference to an obscure TV show called The Pretender. This show rivals Lost for the number of unfulfilling mystery box plot points. While the first season and a half were pretty good, things quickly went off the rails after that.

In fact, the disappointment this show gave me was a major motivation for me to come up with answers to all the comic's questions early on. It sort of amazes me that a schmuck like me can figure this out, but not the masterminds of a multi-billion dollar movie franchise that will remain unnamed.
