As Kaida points out, Mike's life has taken a positive turn lately – however, it shouldn't be forgotten that she has taken him out because he is depressed. Depression is not necessarily caused by bad things in one's life. Any kind of change (positive or negative) causes stress. Being in a rut can cause depression too… Or it can be a physiological condition with no rhyme or reason. In this case, though, Mike's "blues" are rooted in the events of Chapter 55. He is mourning his father's death (17 years ago) and also came to the (overdue?) conclusion that his oldest friend and mentor was never a friend at all.

In case you don't recognize her, Mina was introduced in Chapter 43, when she became smitten with Mike. Her mother was rescued by "Goro's Solutions" in Chapter 4 and is now working on Eric Mason's campaign for mayor. (Wow, plot has a tendency to build up after a few hundred pages… ^_^; )

patrick: It's not really a date. Mike is more like an adopted nephew. ;-) He's that high maintenance friend that needs looking after.

BetaJess: Ew! Kaida wouldn't date a teenager! Mike already has a semi-girlfriend anyway.

amanda: You can see his tie tomorrow. ;-) It's not a tux, but it is nice to dress up. (Neither of these boys get to dress up often. They live a very humble "slum" life.)

KayleeVersus: I did use some Japanese names (especially when I was trying to draw a more manga style) and any other names I just like. (I made up a few.) None of the characters have a specific ethnicity, though. ~_^

JustNoPoint: A dinner with friends can be more therapeutic than a psychologist (or priest), but you do make a valid point. On the other hand, how much safer has she been by staying home?

blntmaker: Thanks. ^_^ She tries to hide it, but Kaida's "warm side" is fairly common knowledge.
