I had planned a bit of witty dialogue relating to this encounter. I wanted to put it in, but I couldn't find an appropriate place (for flow/mood/layout) here or in the later parts, so I had to leave it out. However, through the magic of author's notes, I can bring you a deleted scene:

That was a clever move with the knife. How did you come up with it so quickly?

Ricky:
Oh, I didn't think of it on the spot. I've been pulling the "fake gun" joke on Alex a lot lately. He's been really jumpy since the incident in the park. *wink*

Brogan: Why choose? How about a gun that fires butter knives?

ghostrunner: Guns can be funny too. Especially ones that have "BANG" flags.

patrick: Ba dum tch! At least it got them out of a jam. ;-)

DAJB: Mmmm. Pumpernickel.

Peipei: Luckily, she's not really a violent woman (just scared).

amanda: Any object with either a bit of weight or a sharpish edge can make a good weapon – but Ricky is more of a prankster than a fighter. ^_~

trevor: It's nice here. The weather is nice. My parents are nice. There's a lot less noise and stress here than the city. But I can't wait to find a good job and be independent.

n_y_japlander: She can't help it. Yuki is a cop at heart and has that "all business" nature. – Yeah, Ricky is good at doing stupid things. ~_^

dueeast: Ricky prefers a good bluff. Sometimes it's easier to fight violence with wits.

patoborracho: It's not the weapon; it's how you use it. ;-)

Tantz: The "uh-oh" moment has been averted (this one anyway).
