I loved to walk when I lived in a city. I can't really do it in a rural area where everything is many miles away with no sidewalks. Walking is relaxing, you don't have to worry about parking, and you can do it on your own schedule – unlike buses and taxis. (Buses in our city didn't run on Sundays or after 9 PM, and taxis didn't run after 11.) I don't like to walk alone after dark, but it's fine if you have a companion.

amanda: Well, one has to respect older, authority figures. They probably feel like they're being lectured by a father or principal.
