Due to a tip from subcultured and my increasing dissatisfaction with my own work, I tried a whole different approach to the "nighttime" effects. It probably could use some tweaking, but it seems to work and is actually much faster and easier than the old way. Much of the upcoming arc requires "darkness" so if this works out it will save me a lot of time and frustration. (Btw, my new avatar was taken from this page before I added the night effects.)

This page concludes our latest chapter. Next one starts on Tuesday. ~_^

The DD Awards for 2009 are starting! The nomination ballots are open starting tomorrow and running until July 31. Make sure you go vote for all your favorites.

I got a couple nominations last year (and an award). It was a huge surprise for me, and I'm touched by all the support. I think the coolest award would be best protagonist or antagonist – if one can distinguish between them. Heh.

ghostrunner: I usually am. XD

Peipei: True, but in this case, his problem is he didn't hide them well enough. -_-

JNP: It wouldn't have to come down to killing. I'm sure they know plenty of ways to make life difficult. ~_^ My original plans contained a more hollow threat. Basically Raidon threatening Kaida, and Fudo pointing out the bluff ("You would never hurt Kaida.") or realizing the bluff and calling it ("Go ahead. Like I give a damn about her.") But I decided that empty threats wouldn't fit Raidon unless he knew his bluff was sound.

Tantz: That's the problem with villains. You know they won't keep their word but still end up having to agree to their terms.

blntmaker: He's not really fighting the execution thing. He was hoping to hold onto one scrap of dignity, but that's not likely either. -_-

trevor: I took snow for granted in the mountains. It looks unlikely that I'll be experiencing any decent snowfalls again for a long time.

patrick: I sort of wanted to put a face on the threat in this case. Threatening Alex and Seiko would hit home more than a general threat, but with Raidon's character, either way would work. – Plus Fudo is already aware that Raidon has targeted those two before.

DAJB: A crime syndicate is the world's most efficient bureaucracy.

amanda: Thanks. I guess I missed the schedule, not that I looked really hard. ^_^; Raidon is a master of execu-speak.

Net: If the note is dictated word-for-word, one would have to be trickier with the code, perhaps using punctuation, curious misspellings, or odd capitalization…
