DAJB: I have been asked before. ;-) Originally, this was supposed to be storyboards of a goofy anime, starring my friends and throwing in all kinds of anime cliches. (All three leading ladies have parallels in my favorite series, and the girls originally were to possess superpowers.) The focus shifted when I started sharing it outside my own household. The names stuck. Since then, I have occasionally added other Japanese-sounding names but mostly stuck with American.
