I had to give up some of my favorite writing on this page. Originally, I had Seiko arrive to have a tearful super-emotional "death bed" conversation with Fudo. She would sob about the failed rescue and endangering more people. She would ask what good she had done, and Fudo would tell her she helped him see "one more sunrise" – hence the chapter title. I rewrote it a few times, but in the end, I abandoned the emotional goodbye speech altogether for pacing and for realism.

In unrelated news, thanks to budget cuts, I will have much more free time soon. I'm not getting laid off, just working half as many hours. C'est la vie. In happier news, my brother just got a job! Go Dave!

In more happy news, UB is a finalist in the DD Awards. I'm happy and moved (yes, I'm a teary-eyed emotional sort) by the recognition. My other comic is a finalist in TWO categories including one of the big ones – Overall Best Strip. Anyway, check out the finalists; you might discover some new favorite comics. Also, volunteer to be a judge or presenter.
