In my early brainstorms for this arc, I was undecided on whether Seiko or Mike would be the one kidnapped. Ultimately, I settled on Seiko for two reasons. One was to team up my dynamic duo here (I love their volatile reactions to each other, not really friends but like competitive brothers); the other was because I decided to give Seiko a less active role. After I decided, a lot of little pieces of the story fell into place.

As an added note, I like how this page turned out. I love drawing Caroline because she’s outside the main cast’s median age range. And Mike’s angry tears are so characteristic of him.

Anubis & Peipei: The boys are sadly inexperienced in criminal arts. Maybe talking will work?
