There was so much dialogue to fit in here. I do my best to condense, but the "unimportant" stuff can be crucial because of pacing or to set a mood or define a character. I try not fall into the exposition-only dialogue trap. Mood can be important too. On the other hand, trying to reduce words can lead to some nice snappy exchanges.

KimLuster: That’s true. I was in a car that flipped over and was jumpy and paranoid of vehicles. I didn’t get my license until 26 or drive alone until I was almost 30. After our house was burglarized, I became obsessive about locks for some reason. (They broke in a window, so that wasn’t even part of it.)

tupapayon: It’s a hard thing for a “logical person” to do.

plymayer: Thank you. I’m also working on caring for the remaining critters, two are on long-term medication.

Peipei: Thank you. And yeah, Caroline went through an ordeal. She also probably has survivor’s guilt to some degree.

takoyama: Thank you. Sometimes I wouldn’t roll out of bed except that other lifeforms depend on me.
