Vampire Tales The Buried

davechua onI watched The Midnight Meat Train yesterday with only moderate expectations, but found it was only so-so. I'm a big fan of Clive Barker, particularly his short stories, and thought this would be a great film adaptation; however, what I found was a mediocre effort. Lots of blood (though a puddle compared to Kitamura's Versus), not much story, characters that were just a little above two-dimensional, and just rather bland transitions. I was really expecting much better with this almost-urban-legend made reel. I know this got a raw deal as far as cinematic distribution went, and was pretty much left out to dry with Lions Gate. Still, I don't think it would have found much success either in theaters.
Hopefully it won't be too long before we see another Barker story transformed into a movie.
PS: And yes, I realized that the trailer for Quarantine pretty much gives even the ending for [REC] away. Dumbasses.
