Xan actually works as a nick name for both Susan Alexandra. Originally Xan's real name was going to be Alexandra and have his family call him Alex a while he insisted on being called Xan to sound more manly, but later on I changed it to his middle name when Susan got more laughs out of people.
Although I had heard the name Xan before I got the idea for Xan while my brothe was playing Baulder's Gate. In BG there is an elf named Xan so I decided to name my character in homage to my source of inspiration. I would explain how the heck I got Xan from an old D&D computer game but that would require and awful lot of explaining. Let us just say me and my brother are very sarcastic people.
