One day, I plan to work for Marvel, writing Blade. It'll fun writing an arrogant, cynical bigot with a really bad temper. I think I'd set it somewhere like an island in the middle of the Pacific, where Dracula has issued a 'Battle Royale' style challenge and the winner gets this ancient relic. How to include Hannibal King now that he's only a semi-vampire is going to be tricky though (No clue what I'm talking about? Get "Blade: Sins of the Father" and read the last chapter. Damn I wish they didn't cancel that series).

My big disadvantage is that those two titans (DC and Marvel) make it rather difficult to get in. I know, I know, the comic book industry is hard to break into, but these guys make just submitting your stuff a problem for someone like me. I'd have to put my portfolio together of my art (No, they don't take writers. You have to be an artist first), and then I buy a return ticket to the US and go to a big convention, where I must put my portfolio into a bin on the first day and wait all weekend until they contact me to join several others for an interview. And no, they do not contact you if they don't like your work. After that, I'll probably have to wait a decade before they let me write something.

I wonder why they didn't come up with the comicbook challenge first? I mean, think of how much money Platinum Studios is making off of Hero by Night, who many agree is currently the best superhero comic on the web. Now, imagine what they'll be making off their other titles, like Gunplay, Kiss4K, Lesbian Pirates, Cowboys and Aliens, etc. because they not only show off the comics on print but also on the net. And they have a contest where anyone can submit an idea and the readers choose whose comic they would love to buy.

Personally, I'd give PS another few years and they'll probably be as big as Dark Horse and Image, maybe even later they might be as big as DC and Marvel. But, whatever the case, I want to jump on the bandwagon just before it starts to take off.

So yeah, if you guys could send letters and emails to Platinum telling them that they should publish Warriors of the Night, that'd be great. Anyone who does and can prove to me that they did will get a free gift of their choosing (Nothing over $50 though. I'd be grateful, but not rich. Unless of course, I get $100,000 from the sales revenue, then the limit triples).

And now to hope that I didn't just start a trend of authors asking their readers to hound PS to do their own comics.

Until next time
