When I was writing today's scene between Nyarlathotep and his wife, Jess when I remembered the scene between Dream and Death in Neil Gaiman’s Sandman. This is an homage, but the joke itself is of course is a nod to Mary Poppins in which the actual lines are:

Michael: I want it to feed the birds.
Mr. Dawes Sr: Fiddlesticks, Boy. Feed the birds and what have you got? Fat birds.
