Indybot onA comic? On a Wednesday, of all days? This must be what wishes taste like.
Still experimenting, art-wise. Seems like there’s a different style in each panel.
I tried my best to make each panel flow into the next. I worry sometimes that my pages look more like a series of still images than a sequence of movement. This page was much more fun to draw than the previous one, mostly because I was drawing something that I don’t try very often – an action scene!
While there are many, many wonderful elements to online comics in general, I personally think that action-heavy sequences are one of the few things that just read better in print comics. The one-page-at-a-time pacing on your typical online comic just isn’t conducive to a drawn-out action scene. That’s my opinion, anyway. I’m not saying it can’t be done – perish the thought! I just think it’s a little trickier to pull off in a webcomic, especially if the scene spans multiple pages.
Panel four: Not gonna lie – I pulled this one out of my butt at the last minute. But after fixing it up a little, I’ve decided I quite like it. I like her facial expression a lot, especially since I redrew her mouth. I used white ink to cover up my initial mistake, and then drew a new mouth over it. I used it for the highlights, too. I’d never tried it before, but I’m warming up to the stuff. (If only for correcting inking errors.)
While there is a precedent for Leech’s apparent Kung-Fu agility, I never want her to be the kind of character that’s flawless in every way and always triumphs no matter what. I like to make sure my characters take a dive now and then. It keeps things more interesting.
Ironically, I drew most of this page on Earth Day.
The flower field in panel one is a tad sparse, but I was honestly too tired to draw any more of those little plants. Sorry.
