Where is Mom?

To clarify: Yes, I use colour, and yes, I use it poorly. At some point, the main character may become coloured. But not now. There is a certain juxtaposition between the light and dark, that everything is a metaphorical world of colour and the main character is a ghostly shell of himself. As though something is missing inside, a source of illumination.
That, or I am still learning.
