Three peasant women watch the latest delivery of prisoners to the nearby labour camp. The women see their own past in the new arrivals, as they themselves have been lucky enough to have been released from the camp after serving out a sentence. They also see their future - as they have nowhere to go from the prison, and tilling the land doesn't bring in enough to live on year in year out, the odds of them ending up back in there, this time for life, are strong.
Inspired by the work of Georges Pichard. Drawn August 2008.
