This was months in the making: a scene from a slave galley - over 40 naked, chained galley slaves are working to their very limit while the drummer from is punishing one who wasn't keeping up the pace. The drummer has herself been an oar slave, but that's not stopping her from being as tough as she needs to be - otherwise, she might find herself back at the oars. An overser looks on.
All the slaves are well-disciplined, of course. Originally, they may have come from all walks of life, but here, they are equals, chained to the oars 24/7 and worked beyond what they previously thought they'd be able to handle.
Fans of FGS art who are active in certain online communities may see some familiar faces in the crowd.
This is pretty much the final image. I am spotting some errors that I will need to fix now that I am looking at the image at a smaller scale, but substantially, this is it. It took many more hours than I'm getting paid for by the client, and this means it's probably the only piece of this size I'll do unless we renegotiate rates for the next one.
