#258 It's Signed: "Elder Fan"

Sorry this is late. I'm still getting over this cold or whatever it is.

If you ask a casual Kiss fan what their worst album was, they will tell you 'Music From The Elder'. They would be wrong.

While there is some bad music on there, mainly the opening and closing 'Fanfare' and the song 'Odyssey' (Which is as deliciously bad as David Bowie's 'Laughing Gnome' or Leonard Nimoy's 'The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins') I can listen to 'Elder'… I cannot listen to 'Animalize'.

Some of you might say, "But Randal… 'Heaven's on Fire' is on 'Animalize'."

To you I say, "That's like putting a pretty bow on a pile of shit. If you want to listen to 'Heaven's on Fire', go buy 'Smashes, Thrashes and Hits' because it's on there too."

Anyway, Elder gets a bad wrap… There are some good songs on there, like 'I' and 'The Oath'. And if you can get past the corny lyrics, 'Under the Rose' and 'Dark Light' are great songs. They aren't typical Kiss songs, but they're fun to listen to.

Eric Carr should have wrote more music, because he co-wrote 'Under the Rose' and an Ace Frehley song called 'Breakout' which is an awesome song. RIP, dude. Incidentally, Ace's birthday was last week. There are better sounding versions of 'I' than the one I linked, but they don't show the almost never seen "Elder" versions of their KISS costumes.
