I already know I'm going to catch a LOAD of flak for this from some of you, probably some powers that be, too.
I had a regular page to put up, but I used this instead. 1) because I drew it at work and think it's freaking hilarious. 2) To prove a point: DDCW was started FOR FUN. It was started as a gag that a lot of you hopped on board for and we had a lot of fun with it. Admitedly, this thing grew much bigger and much faster than we were ready for. Then the whining started. Granted, Zac and I may not have it as "together" as we did when we started…but so sorry, life got in the way. Such is the peril of webcomics. Zac's got Disney up his ass 24-7. I work THREE jobs AND school. 130. That's how many "Why haven't you updated civil war/the rosters yet?" PQs I had in the inbox of my regular account. That's not even counting the emails and the THREATS. Yes, THREATS. DDCW stopped being fun and started becoming a chore. It's gotten to the point that I hear that little "You've got mail" ding and a cringe, knowing what most of them are about. That's why I posted this page (and will post Part 2 of it on thursday, renewing Tues/Thurs updates PERMANENTLY and WITHOUT misses), to remind myself WHY this was such a fun project at it's onset. In fact, our recent interview with the ever-patient Skoolmunkee renewed the vigor a bit, because it was teh first time Zac and I have gotten to speak for more than 30 seconds in MONTHS.
I mean, c'mon, guys. I'm getting THREATS in my email and PQs. "Talk of striking in the forums"? What the hell? If you feel that Zac and I haven't been living up to our end of the bargain, I understand. Want to move on to a more structured community event? I understand. But the non-structure was what drew so many people to this project to begin with.
I can't speak for Zac, but I've managed to get my life a little more managable. That means updates. So, those of you who have stuck with us and been supportive (and even stuck up for us in the forums), Thank you. You nay-sayers? Either move on, or shut up and enjoy the ride from here on out. I'm going to spend the next two nights catching up on everyone's events. Then I'm going to work on incorporating as many of them as possible into the main story. So that when next Tuesday rolls around…you'll all see Civil War back in full swing.
For the time being, it looks like I'm flying solo. I'm sorry it took so long to get my act back together. Now move on and enjoy the ride.
