I'm recently joined this site and are having troubles finding a good program to color my comics, as of now I a using Powerpoint to draw them because sadly I broke my scanner and I'm using Gimp to color and add blur effect. Any suggestions?

Dear, You.
Welcome! Well everyone will be recommending Photoshop to you, I'll suggest really learning the GIMP. My artist uses it, and you know what? It might not have all the abilities of PS, but it can still kick a ton of ass. It takes some learning, and it all depends on what you intend to do with it, but really any program can work if you use it properly.
You should really decide what you'll need to be doing before plunking down a lot of money on PS or other software that you might not need right away.
Plus, as I do offer occasionally, my artist and I can offer some tips on using the GIMP. Just ask, eh? :)
Manga studio is great when it comes to paneling, it's tricky to figure out though.
I'd only use Corel painter if you're willing to put a LOT of time in getting to know the brushes. Once you figured it out, though, you'll probably love it (I gave up, it frustrated me D: ).
For beginners, I'd advice Photoshop or open canvas. They're relatively easy to use with a tablet or the pen tool in PS. In my PS version (7.0) my strokes are way more wobbly than in open canvas 4 though.
OC is better for blending, yet I feel more in control of my coloring in photoshop.
Manga studio is THE number one software for toned comics. Open Canvas has some basic tones too, though. To me, these are way simpler to work with than the loads of Manga studio tones.
I've never used the GIMP, but apparently it's a simplefied photoshop. And it's free.
Shipainter is free as well, if you're talented, you can get awesome results from it. I think you also need to install Jtablet to get pen pressure though.
From the free drawing softwares, I think shipainter's way more awesome. Donnis and Lordhannu from deviantart have gotten kick-ass results from it. You can import your drawings into shipainter, buuut, I forgot how D:
Hi there! Yeah, which product you use for coloring/editing depends entirely on how much you're willing to invest. GIMP is awesome - and free - though it's not as intuitive as other programs and will take a while to get the hang of - plenty of tutorials on the web, though. PhotoShop is pretty awesome, but it's quite pricy, and most people aren't willing to dump the money into it.
Like Steely, I'm happy to help with GIMP or PhotoShop (I use both because I'm inconsistant - woo).
I heard GIMP was like Paint.net and Paint.net's pretty nifty.
For me, I don't like using computer programs to colour because it turns out sloppy. Yeah, don't ask. It's usually the opposite for people. It also sort of depends on your way of colouring.
My advice? You could download the free trials of some popular programs, like photoshop, and just see whichever one fits your needs. Some of them can be really confusing. =\
ware, my man, you should totally try the soda. Welcome My Huff… I use PS and hard color (as per C) but GIMP is worth a look (and free is good). I recommend pain.net for people that want a quick start and it does some very cool things these days (and free, did I mention that).
Later, A
Since I'm way too cheap to pay all that money for Photoshop, I use Gimp for my comics. It takes a little while to figure stuff out, but once you get used to it, it's really handy. It does everything that I need to do for my comic, but without the expensive pricetag (It's FREE!)
There are resouces out there, if your having trouble. You should search the internet for tutorials, there are lots of good ones out there to help you figure out how best to use the program!
