Greetings from the nuthouse (by which I mean my own, not an institution… this time).
I have been drawing since I could hold a crayon, and comics were my first love. I learned to draw in countless styles by copying what I saw on TV and in newspapers, then developed my own style by my teens.
I currently do realism, some for college (I'm in Graphic Design) and some for story illustration, and I have a Cafepress shop for my vector designs. You'd think, with all that going on, I'd make a little more money for my work, but alas, no. (I also create a lot of artwork and fiction for various fandoms, for which no money can be made legally anyway.)
And now, after four years of debating, I've started my own webcomic – "BRAINDROPS" – which is largely autobiographical but also deals with the others in my household. Having mental health issues (bipolar amongst other things) you'd think that would mean maudlin or even scary. Naaah, I've learned to have a sense of humour about the whole thing, at least when I'm not having a breakdown. I'd prefer to keep this comic as much on the funny and/or goofy side as possible. Reading maudlin crap is more than I can take, myself.
So, I hope there can be an audience for my comic here. And I love hosting it on Drunk Duck because, silly as it sounds, I love ducks. And though I've never see one drunk, I have seen drunk pigeons fed bourbon-soaked bread, and they were pretty funny so I'm betting ducks would be hilarious. So long as they don't drink and swim. That's probably not safe.
Also, not sure how to upload a banner image here, so I'll just give the direct link to the comic…. [EDIT: Figured it out :)]
Thanks to all.

Hello from the Quantum Witch
Cool name and cool intro. You sound like my kinda person :D welcome to the duck and I know you will find an audience here. There is a Tips and Tricks forum where Skullbie has a thread about adding a banner image. Please feel free to PQ me if you have any questions.
Thanks,
AG
Sorry, it's in the Help, How do I… forum
Here's the link

Hope that helps :)
Welcome quantumwitch. Probably most of us artistic types have some sort of mental wiring problem, which may, in turn, be what makes us artists as opposed to something practical, such as politicians or taxi drivers. Most of us can't or don't make a living from our art. The few that do seem curiously unhappy at having to make a living that way. Meh, artists! Go figure.
All of which is my way of saying, welcome and get ready to fit right in. :whistling:
Putting up a forum banner sig is no problem. You will need to have a photobucket account [or some such free service] on which to upload and keep your banner. Then you just link that banner to your forum reply panel. As Aghammer pointed out, just follow the directions in the Help forum and pay attention to the proper banner size. I got that part wrong last year and received a courtesy PQ from one of the Administrators. huh!?

'Tis always my dream to get rich on something I produce, and since I have no kids to sell, I guess it better be artwork or writing.
I've always been of the opinion that the collective artist/writer is a little out-there, but I've not had the pleasure of knowing any others who were schizoaffective bipolar. Yet. Most seem to suffer depression, instead of actively hearing voices or seeing what others can't. It's actually fun, and leads to some pretty cool writing.
Welcome to the Drunk Duck QuantumWitch! I see you have partaken in the Cola…it's alright though you will fit in here alive or dead;) Just look at Ironscarf when he gets here he also drank the cola, and now he is called Ironscarf's Ghost, but we still like him:) Also if we didn't have mental problems where would the creative flow come from?

Ah goodie, I'm in Jonestown, my dream come true (oy).
Also if we didn't have mental problems where would the creative flow come from?
'Tis true, 'tis true.
Hello quantumwitch, I see you've met a few of the charming regulars: believe me, it's all downhill from here. You sound like just the kind of delightful individual we like aboard our little train, although as she subtly pointed out (ouch!) Amanda is the conductor so mind how you go there.
*Insert agonisingly poor joke which plays on the word conductor as in train conductor/electrical conductor, I don't need to bore you with the tawdry details*
I think debating your comic for four years before starting is an admirable pursuit although I was thrown out of the debating society for similar: they kept wanting to discuss current affairs but what do they know. Anyway, I can't wait to see your fascinating sounding work and as it's nearly that time:

I was president of the "Voting Sucks" club in high school. Never got re-elected.*
I'm not sure my work will be fascinating, but it will smack loudly of truth and justice and… I dunno, something.
Wow, a welcome serenade by Judy herself. I feel most warm and fuzzy inside.

*figure out where that came from and I'll draw you a cookie.
Welcome! It's always great to see new faces (avatars) around here. I'll have to take a look at your comic as its witty title has piqued my interest. Enjoy the community!
Also, great introduction!
My avatar is me, actually (it's hard to tell because I'm in profile). I was just thinking the same about your comic titles -both of them- and after a look-through I definitely find appeal.
Thanks so much :) It seems this place may be worth my while.
