Lazer or Laser?

Honestly, it baffles me. How do you spell las/zer?

I would think Laser because it stands for something, but Lazer is the only way it sounds right to me…

I has a feeling this was started because of my lazer tag post. :)

Lol, I believe the correct spelling is laser, but lazer is cooler.
