No-Face Day is November 19th!

here are the rules:

1) you cannot draw the faces of your characters at all.

2) you can draw the back of the head or a profile, as in a silhouette, but no details.

The idea is to communicate emotion through the use of dialogue, body language, and focus shots, such as a hand lingering on a certain object of emotional importance or your characters interacting physically with their environment rather than strictly with each other. try not to use extreme word balloons in lieu of the actual drawings. remember, in real life, we can't see word balloons.

that's it. sign up here if you want to be a part of it. well, i suppose you could do it without signing up, but how would we know you were a part of the fun?

edit: Per Mark's suggestion, i have started a No-Face Day comic. email submissions to discount.city(at)hotmail(dot)com.

sounds like fun. I'm in

Are you starting like a no face day comic where you put everyones strips in or are we just putting them in our own comics?

I think an exclusive no face day comic would rock

i hadnt considered it. i figured interested and participating parties could link to this thread to allow readers to find them… but your idea works for Fusion, so i dont see why i couldnt…

of course, that would make me responsible for organizing an actual event… id have to organize… something…

{looks at his desk} organization is not my forte…

we'll see. i suppose it also depends on how many people actually dedicate to this.

I might do stuff like this, you could do something simaler to fusion (like a small story)

I'll sign up anyway

Edit: and when you say 'No face the comic'what do you mean by that? You said about e-mail submissions to that email but I don't quite understand.

same way Fusion works - Tyrapendragon gathers everyone's work and uploads each one as a different issue, then posts back in the forum with a link to the first in the series.

so all you would do is send me your comic, and on november 17th i'll start loading them into the queue for the 19th. then, on the 19th, i'll post a link in the forums back to the first in the series so the glory can be enjoyed by all.

Ah, so everyone makes a short story each.
But doesn't fusion work that each story is done by everyone, and the next person only sees the panel before it

well, when i referred to Fusion, I only meant that id do the same thing and display everyone's submission in a single comic account, not that we'd hand one panel off to another artist.

otherwise id be competing with Fusion, and since im DOING Fusion, that might be a bad idea.

:)

so, you write your own script, draw your own comic, heck, you can even display it on your own site if you like, but you can also submit it here for inclusion in the project.

I'll do it!!! I have a silly question though, should it be one page? If so, should it be a one-page story, or should it be one page of our comic? thanks!!!

one page of your own work. it can either be a stand-alone strip, or a part of your on-going series, and it can be double-posted to No-Face and your own account.

No-Face Day submissions are due in to "discount(dot)city(at)hotmail(dot)com" no later than… um… we'll push it back to 9pm pacific time on saturday, november 18th. that's a little over 35 hours from now, just to heighten the suspense.

I'm about halfway through mine. How far along are you?

Well, I've finished making the comic. JUst need to scan, add text and send it. I'm not sure when that time date is, can't do that kind of stuff >_<, But I should send mine about 6pm in England. I really can't find out no matter what I do, so will that be OK?

hey, for international postage, i'll take that tardy. but if my mad phat calculating skilz are correct, you'll be about 11 hours ahead of the deadline, so don't sweat it.

and if im wrong, what's the worst that could happen? i upload you a little late? im not going to cut people out of this and be a jerk like that. i just have to have time to upload everything before i go to work for the PS3 launch.

krognar on a bagel, apparently i need to sleep.

Done and done. I finished mine a scrap early because I forgot the time difference again. Damn you people using American times. It keeps tripping me up on this forum.
…not that you would use any other time zone.
Oh bother.

well, if you can get something in to me by 9pm pacific time, i dont see any reason why i couldnt post it and call it good.

but it is No-Face Day, so i really shouldn't take any later than that.
