actually a little exposition here because no ones around for him to talk it out. after the zombiaan empire fell, but before the clean up and wiping out of pockets of resistance. several admirals in the federation decided they had all the manpower they would need to wage war on a whole other universe. (at that time, universal gate technology had been invented by the zombiaans, so it was good that ghost had crushed thier empire when he had.) so the admirals asked ghost to create several weapons that were far more powerful than the ones they had been using. ial created many different ones but then he hit the snag. he invented the penrose monoblock and decided not to give it to the federation. needing an invention to cover up that fact, so he made them the nano hammer… and sabotaged it. the test was on the smallest moon of erdrite IV where after 16 minutes, the computer system overloaded and sent a pulse to the nanite escorts "eat everything!" and so they did. because ghost had expected this, the pilot was able to jetison from the ship and get to safty. however the moon could not get to safty, and in the end had to be forced into the planet's sun. this brought the "lets attack everything" plans to an offical end, and caused the federation to pay for tidal damages on the planet below :D
