This is a diagram of how some of the Strongessa may have operated at one time. These passive towers required only reflected sunlight to operate, cycling up to twenty times a day, and outputting 1.7 million m^3 of water per day. It should be noted that this is a simple diagram, and most of the measurements and angles have been reduced so that the images can be displayed effectively (of important note is that the upper chambers are much larger in reality). failure points include broken or dirty mirrors, broken seals in either the top or bottom chambers of the tower, faulty one way valves, or stress fractures due to the constantly changing temperatures.
also, it has been suggested that the output of passive strongessa versus the number of estimated towers in the desert would not be enough to terra form the desert alone. for this reason, it is thought that some of the strongessa must have been active pumping stations with alternate power sources to compensate for the extra volumes of water needed.
thanks for visiting.
