Alright, here we go. Starting from here on out, we'll be posting new pages that are being serialized in an online format for the first time. I'm pretty excited about the opportunity to share the book with a broader audience and with the drunkduck community in particular, so this should turn out to be a lot fun.
This page, in particular, is obviously an interstitial which flashes us forward twenty-five years from where our prologue story left off. In the original book printing, the prologue ended on an odd-numbered page, which was followed by a double-page black spread that repeated the KILLING DEMONS title and credits, followed by another double-page black spread that had the page uploaded with this post on the righthand side. The intent of all this was to create an effect similar to what you experience on TV when a show opens with a scene, then goes to credits, and then jumps back into the story. This obviously doesn't translate well to an online format, so only the page that actually benefits the story has been printed here. The rest of the book follows linearly and will be presented as it was in its original format.
Btw, we swapped out the comic-book style font for the text on this page right before we went to print with a more typewriter-like font that was a bit more eerie. That change seems to be lost to prosperity, but I thought it worth noting for those of you who might have stumbled upon the original book.
