Scene Seven

Off to the Gardens. Living in New York affords one plenty of reference free and accessible (most of the time at least). I could have used the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens as is for this scene (It's big, beautiful and very well maintained) but they were doing quite a bit of off-season maintenance that year. So our Botanical gardens became a cross between the ones in Brooklyn and the French Gardens in Central Park. Not many people know about the French Gardens. If you're ever in NYC, make a point to see them. They're at about 106th and Central Park West. Lovely!
About Joshua's little jab in the third frame, well every big city is going to be populated by a great deal of idiots. NYC definitely has its share and Brooklyn, which was becoming bad back in 01, is now almost unlivable at times. The only thing worse than the thugs, hipsters and the "fuggedaboudits" (old schoolers) are the wannabe thugs, hipsters and "fuggedaboudits" (new schoolers). In short, Joshua makes a very astute observation here in my opinion. Excellent foresight Peter!
