When I made the new lettering (2005…?) I rewrote the text a bit but stayed as true to the original as possible. Especially this dialogue is quite sensitive, because you'll easily get the impression Ludwig is just whining. It's the sort of speech that provokes a "why don't you just go ahead and kill yourself". The difference here is that it's an actual accusation, and maybe it's always meant that way - but in real life no one could take responsibility for all the bad things that happen… so it's attributed to a certain attitude: No matter how bad you think things are, you have to ignore them to a certain degree. I think that's what most people mean when they're talking about "growing up". It's still quite cynical.
