You may have noticed that the last panel on the previous page is the same as on page 24, where Kat is found by Venus and Mercury after jumping out of the window.

Again she wakes up at the hospital this page, so I reused some drawings I'd made for the previous hospital scene, including some sketches I'd made back then which hadn't made it into the finished scene.

This comic's structure is far from anything well-shaped, but the circularity concerning the two hospital scenes has led me to devise one of two official interpretations of this comic: Everything inbetween the two scenes is some sort of fantasy/dream (this is obviously a last resort; I'm not that fond of explaining plots away as dreams, not even David Lynch's plots).

The other one would be something Midge already mentioned: Kat died after jumping out of the window, and everything that comes after is her private purgatory. I think the idea of a purgatory makes most sense if not just being about torture, but a test devised to find out where God should put a given soul (in English it actually makes more sense, given the word "purge", it's a bit different in German).

There are two great films about this topic: Afterlife by Hirokazu Koreeda (live-action) and Haibane Renmei by Yoshitoshi ABe (animated series). Both come with my highest reccommendation.
