'A history of space travel, by Marcus Trill'

… most notable events of the hazards encountered in space would be the first encouter with the Greeble Worm, first scanned within the meteor it hides in, perhaps for protection from solar radiation, part of it was taken to be studied.
Upon being contained the sepreated the portion became agitive and began knocking against the sides of its container. It was taken aboard the Archive Vassel "Thirteenth" where it was scanned and studied but beyond it being a metallic substance the scans never progressed far as the being crystalised cracking its container and escaping.
After the Worm escaped it took its chances with the airducts to arrive at an isolated worker, the takeover was captured on camera and lasted quite long despite securities arrival later on. Unsure of what had happened to the worker the captain ordered him confined to the Infirmary.
After 3 Cycles the Frigate "Xenos" arrived alongside the metor and followed it along searching for the Thirteenth, soon the automated distress becon was discoved on the metor itself and after scans the ship was discovered inside the metor surronded by the Worm.
Through wireles transfer the crew of the Xenos was able to retrieve the visaul logs and a few of the ships data files from which it was determined that the infected crewmen had piloted the ship into the metor where the Greeble Worm had swallowed presumable killing everyone.
Immediately the Xenos opened fire upon the metor seeking to kill the Greeble Worm or at least leave it without the protective metor, however the Greeble Worm produced the metal shell from within itself and shaped it to ebsorb the shot.
The energy seemed to spread and disapate so the Xenos continued to fire upo the worm but each shot was blocked by the metal shell untill the shell began to glow sending out the energy in every direction.
With a direct hit to the Xenos the captain ordered full stop to make repairs and the metor left the system not to reappear until its planet fall on Carthage."
