What I'm currently doing can most accurately be described as "adapting" my script into actual comic pages… the part about the snail metaphor is a rather lengthy paragraph in my script. But I guess I'd rather show a snail being squashed and drop most of the rant…
And here's my last reminder for the DD Awards… nominations are accepted till August 10th.
REPLIES:
DAJB: Feel free to rate cruel pages lower… otherwise I'll never learn, and someday there might be cruelties unheard of going on here :-)
Jabali: You should be glad I didn't turn it into a supporting character before brutally killing it off :-)
JNP: lol… Fearful symmetry. Though actually I think they rather noticed the falling stones than the snail's tragic passing.
Fitz: To paraphrase Freud - Sometimes a snail is just a snail :-) And since you mentioned it, I was struggling a bit here with the dialogue, particularly the concept of "inviting heartbreak". I cut out some stuff, and I don't know if it's still clear that the problem here lies in not wanting to be responsible for "inviting heartbreak". It's like a dialectic ascent: My heart always gets broken, so I must be responsible for it. But I'm not willing to accept that fact, so those who broke my heart must be responsible (they're evil or something :-D). That's unacceptable as well, so no one's responsible - it's a brute fact of life, neither good nor evil, like stepping on a snail. Hmmm… maybe I should change the dialogue for the print version to make that clearer.
