To me the greatest mystery used to be how two people could ever fall in love with each other, given that any of the two could have rather fallen in love with anyone else. But somewhere along the way I was disappointed to find out that (1) love isn't as exclusive as I thought it was and (2) everybody simply makes the demands they can afford to make. That doesn't sound too romantic? Yeah, well… it isn't supposed to.
But what comes as a real surprise to me is that I can draw something even remotely resembling a horse :)
And I don't know whether online dating works for any of you, but I thought "scavenging" was the right word describing that process of "looking for a match" ;-)
REPLIES:
Jabali: I guess you could look for a whole lifetime and never find what you're looking for. In any case, the reason why I can write these dialogues with some certainty is because there are some relative truths about relationships which seem obvious to me - but I wouldn't know any obvious absolute truths. So… I wouldn't know whether romanticism is overrated or not ;-) And thanks for appreciating the horse :D
alejkhan: Yes, he's still nameless… but not much longer! Regarding the horse… riding might be a painful experience for a rider, but maybe *this* horse doesn't like it either ;-) Thanks a lot, your compliments are highly appreciated!
man in black: Thanks!
Agham: Sounds reasonable, eh? :D Thanks a lot!
DAJB: Although I haven't read any books pertaining to that issue, I've heard a lot of advice hinting in that direction… both personally as well as from those who've made a job of dispensing that sort of advice. Personally, I can't guarantee I'd date anyone that asked me, but… well, if they would only ask! ;-)
Fitz: For some reason the transition from philosophy to intersexual issues goes so smoothly on this comic. And the intersexual issue makes for so much more entertaining dialogue, IMHO :D As for online dating… hey, I thought sex was a physical thing! Call me old-fashioned, but I'd wanna be in the same room with my girlfriend every once in a while. If only because pheromones don't work via screen! And I can't say I ever took online dating serious… mostly because I don't think you can purposely look for that special connection to happen. I've met the most interesting people by chance, not by looking for them. (Still, your saying "I meet a girl" sounds too easy. I walk by them all the time, but I never actually "meet" them. There are some theoretically impossible things happening between lovers all the time… that's what this chapter will be about, among other things.)
