Um…

I'm still having trouble reconciling the "sex part" of signifikat with the "philosophical" part. signifikat was very much an outlet for me to just vent about what people say and think about how (inter)sexual relationships should or shouldn't work (or generally, people trying to tell you how men are or aren't and how women are or aren't). Suffice to say, I can't stand the clichees.

And indeed, comics can be therapeutic.

Thanks for reading and commenting!

Nepath: I aim to please AND surprise sometimes :P

Peipei & man in black: Glad you're finding it funny :P

DAJB: That is very true, but in science's defense, good scientists will explicitly add in their studies that a questionnaire can only go so far. It's mostly the media which like to leave that stuff out and concentrate on the juicy bits! (Yes, the evil media! :P) Also, there are some ingenuous ways to collect data, beyond simple questionnaires. But it's true, especially in the area of sex surveys, lying will influence the outcome significantly. As for potential differences between men and women's sexual behavior, I believe the fact that men look for sex partners more indiscriminately is well established. The other old story is that in looking for a mate, beauty matters for men, while money matters for women. Even then, men are more likely to neglect lack of beauty. But as Nora said in chapter 3, "you'll make the demands you can afford to make", so of course beauty may matter for women and money for men, or whatever else might influence interest in a potential mate. Personally, I believe that in everyday life, a whole lot of other characteristics matter, but beauty and wealth can act as "defeaters", overriding a whole lot of other personality traits.

Zephyrion: Thanks!

Fitz: I'd warn you - writing about gender stereotypes can become extremely messy, especially if you want to support some of them! I would never ever write a thesis about that. My head hurts already :P My personal observation is that usually, I also want women I can't have! :D

Stig Hemmer: Nice! :P

mmm bacon0: Thanks!

Jabali: I do like to believe that men are "unpredictable" too, it's just that their tolerance is higher… not because they're saints, but because they're looking for sex partners more indiscriminately :P

alejkhan: Haha! Beats being a God, I guess…
