SS4 49 Christmas Eve

Ah now the word'puggle'. This is really curious as I was brought up with the word; my parents used it and so did my grandparents and as we all grew up in South Essex and never strayed it's been a common word for me all my life but I used the word with a friend from Milton Keynes a couple of weeks ago and she had never heard of it so out of curiousity I Wiki'd it and found it meant a type of dog! Thinking I must be mad I mentioned it to my other half who also has deep roots in South Essex and she said her family used the word too. So we did a bit more research on the net and found the contents of a book purchased by a university in Toronto's linguistic/dialect dept which was written by a vicar who lived in the next town to ours in the early 1900's which says: PUGGLE : to poke about. Verb. PUG, to paw about.
Realising how localised the word was I didn't know whether to use it on the last page or not, but I think it's a lovely word and it always makes me smile so I put it in.

Now….. haha. Well Sarah's found a reciept which seems to explain everything but is she barking up the wrong tree? (misled!)
Most of you seem pretty sure what Janey's bought by now but we'll just have to wait until Christmas Day to see if you are right or not won't we! *giggles* BTW Timot the girls will be opening their personal presents on their own Christmas Morning so at least they will both be spared any blushes… for a while.

*hugs to all*

See you at Christmas!
