I should do a David Lynch on this one and let each reader make their own mind up about what really happened here but I couldn't be so cruel. Basically I've kept the story in the real world right up to the bus crash. The bus was real and while onboard, sarah fell asleep and dreamt about things that Margaret discussed over dinner - mainly the birth of her grandchild and the loss of her bus driving husband. But as with all dreams saint Nicholas (Santa) and her friend Nick/Nikki become confused as does the idea of Janey calling to her into the light (as many near death experiences report being welcomed by friends or relatives). Talk of birth and death mingles with past ideas of reincarnation to give her a weird rebirthing fright and perhaps too a taste of how it feels to imagine the body you were born with is wrong. Finally when she wakes up to find they are still alive and everything seems pretty much normal they reach the same point in time again, only this time things happen differently. Margararet's bus driver hubby is now alive though and everything that seemed real from the beginning of the dinner to the screeching of the tyres now just seems like a surreal and vague dream.

Did the bus really ever crash at all? Has she brushed with her own parallel existence? Or did the one thing the highly sceptical Sarah truly believes in 'Santa Claus' come to her rescue and make everybody's Christmas a truly happy one? I prefer the Santa theory myself, but I expect most of you will probably just want to take that with a pinch of salt ;)
