I just watched the last episode of Gurren Lagann on Sci-Fi tonight.


Incredible. Plain and simple.

Anyways, whiplash is the ultimate bitch. If the dialog in the last panel doesn't make any sense to you, then here's the dish on it:

Keitaro's first line in japanese would be "Kono tewo hanasu monka…", and the second is "Makka na chikai!" Those are lyrics to the song "Makka na chikai", sung by Yoshiki Fukuyama and used as the opening theme to the anime adaptation of the manga Buso Renkin, the latest creation of Shonen manga artist, Nobuhiro Watsuki-Sensei (Rurouni Kenshin, Gun Blaze West).

Before Kamina and Simon (of Gurren Lagann fame) came along, Captain Bravo and Kazuki were two of the manliest characters that I had seen in a manga in a long time. So when I heard of the anime, I had to see the opening at least. It did not disappoint. A manly song for all the dreamers out there if ever there was. Also, the "Sunlight slasher maximum pedal power" in the last panel is also a nod to the series.
