In response to some questions raised by this page. The colorful images represent the main characters thoughts. They are essentially thought bubbles but instead of just words, I've used them to show images that pass through the mind of the main character. He is the creator of the first chapter and he imagines those imaginary characters as he goes about his real life. Since real life is reminding him of this imaginary realm, the action in the thought bubbles are intended to complete and parallel the action taking place in 'reality'. The imaginary realm fills in the gaps in the 'real' world.
This page can be read like this. The image of the main character drying his hands resumes the action from the boy washing his hands on page 24. The boy then returns back to the cave. The main character also is reminded of another mysterious character, this old man rigged up to an elaborate robotic device. This character will be incorporated into the fantasy world at a later time. Next we see the boy pick up the broken piece of the skrit. This action is a surrogate for the main character picking up the blood monitor. We switch back to 'reality' and he learns that his suspicions of low blood sugar are confirmed. Back to the imaginary world where the boy tosses the shell symbolizing the action of throwing away the test strip. Next the main character swoons slightly as he is feeling woozy from the effects of his low blood sugar. Lastly he stumbles as he leaves the bathroom to get something to eat.
