Well, I am sure that you have all finished reading todays comic, and noticed that it has a different look. No, you are not going insane, I did change the layout of the comics.
This comes after a conversation I had with a friend about the structure of my comics. He asked me why I decided to go with 4 panels for my comics. I explained to him that it works out better for me, because I can do long story lines and have updates twice a week. They also allow me the ability to have a punchline at the end of every four panels, instead of long, drawn out pages that lead to one joke.
After having this discussion, I was going to come on here and talk about how comics can be divided into different categories, like literature: graphic novels, shorts, and four panel comics. I was going to explain that the four panel comic is a lot like poetry in that every panel counts and there can be no wasted room. The only problem with this is that I changed the style of my comics, which sort of negates the point that I would try to make.
When I finished the first draft of today’s comic, I realized a big problem: I had so much text that everything was being covered.
I was trying to figure out what I could do to change what Mrs. Stark says, and then I realized something: This is my WEBcomic! It occurred to me that I have no restrictions here on the web for my comic. By changing the size of the boxes, I now have the freedom to have more text in my comics, and can even have conversations. Also, as I hope you noticed. there are also background characters.
Although I will stick with only 4 of these panels, I can now also alter these panels to give me even more room to work with. DJ
