Alas, the Midsummer Nights Dream rip off was explained. Once again, for clarification, this is in NO WAY an 80s version of the play. Anyway, I am not pleased with the artwork for this one at all. I would take the time to redo it all, but you have already waited since Monday, so I’ll have to deal with it.
Enough about the comic, I want to talk about Death Note (I seriously have the attention span of a flea). Anyway, Death Note is about this Death God that is really bored in his world, so he drops his death note, a notebook where if you write a person’s name in the book, they die of a heart attack, in the human world. The user can specify more details, but those are the basics of the book. When this death note falls into the human world, a boy named Light finds the book, and starts killing off criminals to make his own Utopian society. This turn of events, the deaths of a large number of criminals, gets the attention of the police, and the police decide that they need to stop Light, who is using the alias Kira. To do this, they use “Lâ€Â, one of the top rated detectives in the world, and “L†and Light fight to find the identity of the other.
I have only read the first volume, but I quickly ordered the the next 4 volumes. The writing for this story is simply amazing, and the art art is on par. I simply love a good suspense story, and Death Note is up there with the best psychological thrillers, which is really nice to see manga taking a different avenue than your typical anime/manga (nothing like Dragonball Z). One final thing that I love about Death Note, is the fact that it was written with an end in sight. The manga only spans 12 volumes, which, while some might not want to see it end, I would rather have a well written story than something that just goes on for 12 years. I think having an end in sight is needed, because when something is story based, there needs to be some idea of a story. For instance, I have all of Advanced Placement planned out to the very end. I do not know all the minor events that happen, but big events, I have everything planned out.
