Advanced Placement actually taking place inside a classroom?! Impossible! All joking aside, while were on a story arc hiatus, I’m going to try and so more trips that take place inside the classroom.

Now, there are 3 things I would like to talk to you all about, first being the strip itself. When I read The Inferno, it was really exciting to see all of the things in it that I could recognize from the game Devil May Cry. The only problem, was that Dante in Devil May Cry is a lot cooler than the Dante who wrote the Inferno. In the end, however, I don’t think that they were ever intended to be compared.

Next, I would like to talk about Devil May Cry 4. Devil May Cry has always been one of my favorite game series simply because of how stylized and cool it was. What the games might lack in story, they make up for in pure, unadulterated style. The problem with this series is, if the games are really good, then they are amazing (DMC 1 and 3), and if they are bad, they are awful (DMC 2). I was nervous with Devil May Cry 4, but I can honestly say that all of my fears have been set aside. The game takes everything great about the Devil May Cry series, and matches that with great looking graphics (something that the series had been missing). Although I still have a while to go in the game, I really like the game so far.

Finally, time to talk about the comic itself. Some of you might have noticed that I started shading my characters. This cel shaded look is something that I have always liked. Well, I finally got the courage to try it, and I couldn’t be happier with the way it turned out. Looking at the comic with and without the shading elements, it is amazing how much more the characters pop because of it.

In addition to the shading elements, I also went back to digitally inking the comic. While I love working with actual pen and ink, it is something I don’t think fits Advanced Placement. I had a great deal of problems getting everything to come out clean with the pen and ink, it was so much more work than needed. By going back to the digital inking method, the problems I had are avoided, and the final product is much cleaner.

Anyway, I hope everyone has a good week,

DJ
