Why? DueEast of Due East (writer) and D0m of Nadya (artist) of have collaborated on a the latest white knuckled, female angsted edition of Off Hours. Go see what the drama is all about over there!
Also, the most dangerous PREQUEL series on DD - BLNT:Synchronicity returns with an all-new episode this weekend. No kidding. I'm serious this time.
Been a busy time for me everyone. I teach at a year-round charter high school and we're in the middle of graduation prep. Two weeks left for seniors to complete final projects before we take a two-week break, then we're back to school…then graduation on July 25th.
Two bits of good news personally and professionally - I earned my second straight Teacher Of The Year award for my site, which this year, comes with a California State nomination! Besides these things looking good on a resume, its a real testament to my professional career as an educator. When students recognize and appreciate you AND the peers who nominate you affirm your contributions too - it's hard not to be proud of an honor like this!
Anyway, the second bit of good news is that I have a new job! I'll be taking up a post as director of technology for a private school in…of all places…THE SAN FERNANDO VALLEY! This gig is sweet for so many reasons! I start that in the fall and hopefully, I'll be able to take more shots of BLNT's geographical locale for aesthetic purposes.
Hey! You've got comments, I have responses - Ladies first…
KayleeVersus: Kaylee, thank you for your kind words and fiery review in the forums on BLNT's behalf. If I need a good lawyer, I know who to call. You're going to love what's coming up next for the cast of BLNT. I'm glad you found my comic.
Tantz: Once again, congrats on the new book! And as always, thank you for your support!
The race issue is something the will come up in BLNT because race make-ups in the Valley do vary. The fact that most kids these days are smart enough to recognize differences and still have the good nature to poke fun at them, or even issues in their own community (black on black crime) shows that the walls are coming down in society. "Black on black" transgressions are also funny because, well, it does exists. Much more on that later ;).
Amanda: I'm glad you're hear checking out BLNT! Rayne could use all the support she can get these days. The first job I had teaching middle school here in Los Angeles, ASB elections were taken pretty seriously. Now if you add a bit of 24-esque storytelling in the mix, then you have an ASB election amped up on Red Bulls. The tone will die down over time as the storyline comes to end. I promise.
DAJB: Thanks for the FIVE. I'm happy you even came around to read my work - That alone gets a cool factor of 10!
JustNoPoint: Thanks JNP! I like to make Desmond as cartoonish as possible sometimes. There are moments that just call for it because he IS still a kid. He's like the resident Daffy Duck. I'm happy YOU appreciate the dialogue. I think its pretty natural too. Most of these incidents are things I honestly cannot make up.
smkinoshita: Head butt! DANG IT! Now why didn't I think of that?! That should have been mine.
D0m: Another positive affirmation for the dialogue! Thanks D0m!
TrevorAMueller: As you can see, Rayne is handling her business. When she's done roasting Desmond on an open fire, she and her friends will be spending the next 24 hours tracking down and dealing with the conspirators. You thought she was an "angry, black chick" the first 24 - HA!
POLO: Desmond is at times, bad to the bone - but don't write him off as a dime-a-dozen thuggish kid from the ghetto (Yeah, I'm talking to you King Of Ssssssnakes). He's at an age where he's finding himself and seeking some balance. As this comic goes on, you'll see what I mean.
NEXT…Rayne wraps up her "apology" in the next episode and when she's done, you'll be cheering for two people: her…and Seth? TITLE NINE continues on Friday.
Thanks for the love and support! Yeah, I got some mixed reviews in the forums, but I'm still happy and grateful for all of you who come by to my spot. Keep supporting BLNT because you know, like a batch of homemade cookies, this all comes from the heart and soul.
