The Conspirators, Pt. 1…

Since the physical altercation between Desmond and Rayne, Desmond Blackshear has been a no-show at school. He eventually arrives to school during Teddy and Rayne’s team strategy meeting at lunch – he is bandaged up, in a wheelchair, and wearing a neck and spine brace. Desmond sets up a “press conference” to discuss his part in the video and how Rayne did indeed “knock the taste” out of his mouth. Teddy and Rayne pull Desmond away from the press to privately discuss an alternative way to deal with this issue – Desmond suggests they kiss and make up in front of the press. He also threatens to fake a seizure if she does not agree to his demands. Rayne reluctantly “agrees” and makes a public apology for hitting and hurting Desmond. She also speaks a soliloquy about truth, justice, morality, and the classier fabric of Covington Middle School. She encourages the students not to be blinded by foolishness and to focus on the “real issues” of the school – which includes holding a lackluster administration accountable as well. Finally, Rayne makes a bold proclamation to clear her name and bring everyone involved in this horrible debacle to justice.

She walks away glaring at Desmond and never kisses him – Desmond feels he will eventually be on her hit list.
