Inks were done on several pages. There was at least one layer for the outlines (and one or more for the straight lines) that were later flattened into the "outline" layer. Whereas all shading and detailing has been done on a separate layer. This saves me a lot of grief in the flatting stage, where all these tiny 1-2 pixel sized fields between lines would really confuse the plugins (as they do when it comes to Keris' beard, argh). Still, two layers, one for main lines (with all the shapes closed… if possible) and one for details and shading, were the final version that landed in photoshop.
